Mission Board Report
October 2009
The month Of September is one of those transitional months. We move from the heat of summer to the cool fall days that will soon bring the snow and winter cold. With these changes in the weather there are also changes in the needs of the people who come to the Mission. A hot meal is needed each day to help warm their bodies and what many call “Ugly Bags” need to be ready for distribution. (Ugly Bags are home made sleeping bags from quilt style comforters.)
Unfortunately I was shut out with the additional funding for the walk-in-freezer. I am wondering if we should put off purchasing the walk-in-freezer until we are certain of the outcome with the purchase of the old Brown Funeral Home. Your input is welcome on this matter.
The final count of the Golf outing is as follows:
Total Income to date: $3665.00
Total Expenses: 1,001.77
Balance for Mission use: 2,663.23 I have sent out two final statements for $75.00 to hole sponsors that have not paid to date.
I am working on the February Concert at Richfield. The church has agreed to our use of the building, I have two vocalist that have agreed so far and I am waiting for confirmation from the Quartet, Reconciled and a Praise Band, Burning Heart. Both have indicated they are willing but I don’t have a contract with them yet. I intend to follow the same format at last year with the concert 7:00-9:00 and desserts after in the church fellowship hall. The cost should remain the same at $10.00 and I am hoping we will have a larger turnout for this concert as we grow this event each year.
Our numbers will be higher again this month over 2008 for the meals served. Very few days we have had less than 100 for lunch in September so far.
