Mission Board Report
September 2009
The past month has been an interesting month here at the Mission. We have continued to have larger numbers for lunch and I looked at the food pantry on Thursday, (the 3rd) and the shelves looked rather bare and the freezers are also looking a little bare. The Food bank has not had any meat so we have given out most of the meat we had. I sent out an email to address that need asking for meat from hunters that has been professionally processed.
I am pursuing another funding source to help with the expense for the walk-in-freezer. I am waiting on the grant check before I order the freezer.
We had volunteers from Harbor Light Christian School again this past week, (September 8-10) and again they proved to be excellent workers. An electrician came in for 5 days to separate the outside plugs onto two circuits so we could plug in all the equipment for the Back-to-School-Bash and it worked out well. We did not blow a circuit this summer like we did last year.
The Back-to-School-Bash went very well with the count of backpacks given out at 750 and I have given about 50 additional packs as of tomorrow. (I have someone coming for 10 backpacks for a project.)
Our numbers will be higher again this month over 2008 for the meals served. Very few days we have had less than 100 for lunch in September so far.
