Mission Board Report
June 2009
We have great opportunities here on the Eastside to reach out to the neighborhood in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and to do a quality job it will mean we are going to have to stretch ourselves and ask our donors to step up to the challenge in the name of Jesus. This will not be easy nor will it come to fruition without bumps in the road but our God is able. I looked at a report called the AWE REPORT on the internet this past week. The report was put together with pictures from the Hubble Telescope and it is fascinating the vastness of this universe and the starry vast beyond. If our God could create all of this and yet have time to send His Son to die for us, if we are willing to believe big He is able to meet the future of this mission.
I still have not received the paperwork so I can have these two pieces of property put together as one plot from Dr. Anthony but talked to him just recently and he is having the paperwork redone due to a problem with the originals I gave him. He is also writing up an update to our bylaws giving ownership of the mission property back to the Eastern Michigan District if we should eventually close down for any reason.
As mentioned last month there have been grant requests sent out to attempt to raise funds for the walk-in-freezer. No movement yet but I am expecting some help.
The new lot has been cleaned, mowed and is looking pretty good right now but we still need to work on smoothing it out a little and looking better. Progress is sometimes a little slow.
The Mission received 4 flats of flowers from WoJo’s to plant around the property. They are planted and being watered. A friend of the Mission is bringing a few perennials to plant so we have reoccurring flowers on the property.
As all of you know WoJo’s held a sale benefit for the mission on June 4 & 5 where 10% of all sales from people who told the cashier that they were shopping to benefit the Eastside Mission. We received nearly $60.00. This is the first year and we will do this again next year and if possible we may do it again this fall in time for the fall planting season.
