Mission Board Report
May 2009
This will be a shorter report than usual since it has only been 3 weeks since our last meeting. Everything is going well in all areas of the mission. The lunches are good, our volunteers have continued to do a good job and the clothing house and baby room are busy. We have two new regular volunteers at the clothing house who are doing a great job taking care of the baby room; it is clean and arranged well for the people coming in. We received a good donation of diapers and have all sizes available right now. Attached to his report is a list of items that we need on a regular basis so if anyone asks you what we are in need of you can share this information.
If you had come earlier today you would have come in on a yard sale taking place this week. We are making room in the garage and basement for new donations that we normally receive in the spring as people clean their closets and storage areas.
I still have not received the paperwork from Dr. Anthony so I can have these two pieces of property put together as one plot. I must do this in order to continue with our proposed addition.
We discussed the need for a walk–in-freezer earlier this year. The sales people at Arctic Cold told me the fasteners on the freezer fell apart when they tried to dismantle it and it was therefore unusable. I have been looking and received a bid this past week for a walk-in-freezer at a price of $6,100.00.
With the costs for installation and other incidentals I figure the total expense is going to be around $8,200.00. I have prepared a grant request and will be working on others this week to see if we can come up with enough to cover at least the greatest part of the expense.
The new lot has had three different groups working to clean it up and prepare it for our use and it is beginning to look quite well. The trash has all been removed and we are working on getting the grass cut and rocks picked up now.
