Mission Board Report
January 2009
Amazing, that is the only way to describe the care of our Lord Jesus Christ over this past year. I would like to take a minute to list some of the accomplishments that He orchestrated during 2008.
1. We were able to serve over 17,700 lunches to the people who came to the Mission this past year. That does not include those who received 2nds or even 3rds at times.
2. There were over 8500 men, women and children served through the food pantry.
3. Over 820 infants were given formula, diapers or baby clothes. This number does not include the baby beds, highchairs, strollers or car seats that were distributed to help keep those children safe.
4. We now have a new roof on the clothing house and the wall that had been nearly ruined has been repaired and all four rooms upstairs have been painted. The plans for the addition to the clothing house look good and we will be praying for God’s intervention in order to make this happen.
5. A number of men and women were counseled and prayed with during the year. I have not kept track of the persons that were dealt with in this manner by Pastor Bob or myself. One man who comes to the mission is separated from his child’s mother. There are many issues with this couple and numerous times he has sought to spend time with his child and the mother has not allowed it to happen. Through all this I have had several opportunities to talk and pray with him to try to encourage Him to reach out to Jesus and seek his help.
I would also like to list a few goals that I would like to see us meet in the near future.
1. The addition to the clothing house completed.
2. A walk in freezer for the kitchen.
3. The possibility of an enlarged kitchen.
4. The possibility of an addition on the main Mission building for an enlarged church and dining room for serving our guests.
