Mission Board Report, May 20, 2008

At the April Mission Board meeting it was requested that I pursue avenues to complete some of the work needed here at Eastside Mission.  Since then we have posted the needed repairs (without the stairway which I will add) on the web site and we have had some response.  The Christian Motorcycle Club came here on May 16th and removed the porch from the Clothing House.  My Son-in-law and myself placed a cement pad/sidewalk next to the porch for the landing at the bottom of the steps and Pastor Bowser and his son, Brent came over on Monday, May 18th and replaced the porch.

While working on the porch I was visited by a roofer who is going to bring me another estimate on repair of the rubberized roof on the Mission.  This is one of the rather urgent needs we have.  I am waiting for a response from someone who indicated (did not state clearly) that he may help raise the funds to pay for the porch leaving the grant from Citizen’s for the Clothing House roof.

Judging from the change in the mail I expect that donations for this month will be drastically down from the months of March and April so it might be necessary to be even more careful with our spending.

We are going through a lot of diapers and formula in the baby ministry.  We are grateful for the help we have received from West Flint Nazarene with clothing and diapers and formula from the Flushing Nazarene Church.

Volunteers came on two Saturdays this month to serve lunch and brought donations to cover the cost of lunch.

Upcoming events include the Bible School to be held the week of June 16th.
