Mission Report
Mission Board Report, April 22, 2008
Since our last Mission Board meeting we have seen the need continue to grow. We have run out of size 5 diapers twice and have been close to running out of size 3 & size 4. We are thankful for the support of the Flushing Nazarene Church, which is consistent in bringing us diapers and formula. We also are receiving other necessary items for the baby room from the ‘Lamb’s Closet’ at West Flint Nazarene.
I have put together a list of needed repairs here at the Mission and hope to find volunteers for at least some of these items. (The list is page 2) Some are rather urgent others can be waited upon to complete. We have had several groups of volunteers that supplied some Saturday meals and helped with some clean-up needs.
At district Assembly (April 13-15) contact was made with several of our supporting churches and I should have some speaking opportunities coming this summer. A number of the churches seem interested in hearing what is taking place here at Eastside.
We served a great meal at the District Assembly and it was attended well. The donations from that meal totaled $3,113.15, Expenses totaled $690.88 and the Board decided at our last meeting to give Barb a retirement bonus of ½ of what we made on the District Assembly dinner so she is to receive a check for $1,211.00. The comments about the District Assembly meal were all positive and as you can see the donations were great. I personally thank Barb Burdine, Jim Clark, Ed Matlewski, Heidi Ewing, Diane Bowser, and the many others who put in a lot of hours to make this happen.
